Discover the Side Effects of Zetia

What is Zetia?

This is the brand name for ezetimibe that is used in lowering LDL cholesterol levels by lessening the absorption of cholesterol in the small intestine. LDL cholesterol made in the walls of arteries forms plaque that can lead to heart disease, and also narrows the arteries. High cholesterol levels are the major cause of stroke and heart attacks. In a low-fat diet, Zetia can increase cholesterol levels by about 25%. It can take two weeks for cholesterol levels to improve, so patients should take this medication as prescribed by their doctor.
